Martin Whitlock (RHB/RM)
Another former Birch & Layer Breton performer, who bowls his overs with the minimum of fuss and bats conservatively and effectively in the top to middle order. A decent judge of a run and a keen fieldsman but steadfastly denies being as old as either Paget or Gallant. Struggles to remain fit for more than a fortnight.
M 58, R 765 (20.67), W 60 (22.68), Ct 12.
Steve Snell (RHB/RFM)
Former cattle hand from New Zealand's north island Waikato region where he played for Te Awa Mutu Sports. A very strong top order batsman who hit a club record 272 against Gosfield in June. Thought to be a bit of a slug between the eickets, he is nevertheless a capable slip fieldsman but many feel he is better employed as a boundary sweeper. Teatotaller who bowls occasional right arm cannon fodder. Appears to like wearing eye make-up and nail polish.
M 0.
Mark Copson (RHB/WK)
Extremely posh attacking high order batsman who came to Abberton from West Bergholt in 2006. Often says one thing then does the complete opposite. Always adopts ridiculously lengthy poses after playing a cover drive. Missed much of last year following a freak groin injury sustained whilst riding a young filly. Another to throw like a complete girl and almost always claims its Pimms o'clock. Plays the banjo to earn extra income. Occasional but capable wicket keeper.
M 31, R 915 (31.55), W 1 (5.00), Ct 11.
Dave Booker (RHB/RM)
Versatile all-rounder who made his debut for the club in 2006, joining from Elmstead Grasshoppers for whom he had played for many years. Capable early-to-mid order batsman who, rarely for Abberton, is pretty nimble between the wickets. Useful, awkward medium pacer and attacking fielder. Only player to have his last three scores depicted on his numberplate (123) and has an appearance not dissimilar to snooker legend Ray Reardon.
M 36, R 511 (24.33), W 41 (26.51), Ct 8.
Bob Peacock (RHB/WK)
Joined Abberton from neighbours Birch & Layer Breton having previously played for Paxmans. A solid, dependable early order batsman with an eye for the quick single. Very experienced, he always scores his runs at a decent pace and displays sharp running between the wickets. He is also a competent, if somewhat unwilling stumper. Even older than Johnny G, but often puts some of the youngsters to shame in the field.
