Captains
(statistics do not include current season)
Shaun Calladine (RHB/RV)
Superbly forceful opening batsman whose 214* v Great Bromley in 2003 remains a club record. Has passed 50 on less than 34 occasions with eight centuries. Winner of the Best Batsman trophy on four occasions, he is an occasional bowler who likes to vary his offerings somewhat. No mean fielder and possessor of a shrewd cricketing brain which resulted him being courted for several years to lead the TCL 1st XI. The last player to score 1000 runs in a season for the club (2003).
M 88, R 4123 (52.85), W 26 (23.33), Ct 32, St 1.
Marc Fox (RHB/OB)
Has been a massive part of the Abberton set-up since he was a Colt. A very hard hitter of the ball and one whom possesses quite remarkable reflexes when fielding close to the bat. Little more than an extremely occasional bowler these days. Boasts considerable captaincy experience and will again lead the TCL 2nd XI this year. Assists the Head of Security by providing door services at club functions. Happy to enter a summer without his beloved West Ham having been relegated.
P 378, R 5681 (17.64), W 25 (24.64), Ct 129, St 2.
Kemsley Robb (RHB/OB/RM)
Joined Abberton for the 2007 season, this 24 year old from Durban, South Africa is an attacking high order batsman with thirteen centuries already under his belt. Struggles with early season form but played some truly magnificent knocks and ended up as Batsman of the Year in his first campaign. Claims to bowl off spin and medium pace although this is yet to be proven in England. Will captain the PDQ 1st XI in 2008.
M 15, R 476 (43.27), W 0, Ct 1.
Daniel Woodrow (RHB/RM)
A product of the ADCC Youth Academy whom has developed into a frontline bowler for the 2nd XI and holds the club record at this level with 82 victims in a season. One of only eight players to pass 500 wickets for the club. A no-nonsense late order thug and highly proficient at the tea table. In his second season as captain of the PDQ 2nd XI. Rumoured to have run a three during the 2007 season without the need for the Essex Air Ambulance. Like to dress up as Shrek.
M 340, R 1772 (12.56), W 572 (21.55), Ct 67.
Ashley Edwards (RHB/WK)
Another 'capture' from the now-defunct Birch & Layer Breton who can be the cause of considerable rectal discomfort should you wish to prise him from the crease. His general attitude is a fine example for the younger players and he has been reappointed to take charge of the PDQ 3rd XI again in 2008. Recently demonstrated a degree of infirmity that may however preclude him from action. Displays a great love of the Shiraz grape.
