Okay-yarr. Well, following the sucess of Callum's Vocab last season, we have decided to introduce some culture into proceedings by featuring some chosen words and phrases from that awfully posh gent Mark Copson.

This week's word:

Blackguard

A thoroughly unprincipled person; a scoundrel. One who doesn't walk when he edges it behind.

Previous words:

Cheps - Those frightfully nice coves that play with me at Abberton.

Brar-voh - Well done (often used following a decent catch in the field).

Garahhj - Brick thingy for housing one's jolly old motor car.

Bounder - A dashed unpleasant type whom you can't trust with your sister.

Ears - An affirmative response. "Would you like to open Coppo?". "Ears, love to ailed chep."

Orrft - Opposite to 'on'. "One is afraid the blithering match is orrft".

Pimms-o-klok - Often heard mid-afternoon while fellow team members are batting. "Brar-voh cheps, is it pimmsoklok?"

Arrrs-khott - Venue for the wonderful Royal horseracing meet this week. Lots of cheps in toppers there!

Farrk - Cry of anguish after our hero realised he had been caught via bat and eye socket last weekend.

Near - The non-affirmative response, perhaps used when turning down a quick single. "Come one, Coppo". "Near, he's a frightfully decent fielder".

Gorrrne - Having disappeared. "I say ailed bean, where has all the jam gorrrne?".

Quaint - Quite pleasant. From Coppo in the back seat of Rudders car en-route to a match, "What a quaint little hamlet this is cheps"."

Cordial - Squash to you or I, but cordial to Copson. Avaialble in many flavours, the most common being lemon and orange.

Air-hell-air - Pleasant greeting of a dear friend. "Air-hell-air, ailed bean, frightfully decent of you to come".

Hi-shay - An exclamation made whilst inebriated. "Hi-shay, main's a shhcotch".

Cad - Seducer of young women who impregnates before leaving them, often to her social or financial ruin.
