EURO 2008 PREDICTION COMPETITION
The England-less Euro 2008 tournament is just around the corner and Simon Swinn has taken the trouble to organise a prediction competition for all those of you who think you know a lot about football!
Entry fee is £5.00, or three entries for £10.00.
Prize money is dependent on entries but total prize money will be 50% of entry fees.
Scoring of points
Correct score for group game 3 points
Correct outcome for group game 1 point
Group winners 5 points per correct team
Group runners-up 3 points per correct team
Semi-finalists 5 points per correct team
Finalists 5 points per correct team
Euro 2008 winners 10 points
Euro 2008 runners up 10 points
Nation with most goals scored in tournament 10 points
Nation with least goals conceded in tournament 10 points
Nation with most bookings 10 points
Nation with most sendings off 10 points
Nation with tournament's leading goalscorer 10 points
Tie-breaker - predict the minute the first goal of the 2008 final is scored. This will be taken from the time stated by official Euro 2008 timekeeping.
Notes
1. An example of points scored in a group game is as follows : If the predicted score is France 2 Italy 0 and the actual score is France 1 Italy 0, this would score 1 point. If the predicted and the actual score are both France 2 Italy 0, this would score 3 points.
2. If any nations tie for goals scored, least goals conceded, most bookings, most sendings-off and tournament’s leading goalscorer, both (or more) nations would score 10 points.
3. If two or more entrants are level on points for any of the prize-winning positions, the tie-breaker will determine the final positions, closest to the official goalscoring time is the winner.
4. For the purposes of the competition, any penalty shoot outs are not classed as goals scored.
Entries
All entries must be on the offical entry form only and can be handed over the bar with the requisite fees. Non-members can enter by sending their form with a covering cheque made payable to Abberton & District Cricket Club to ADCC, Fingringhoe Road, Langenhoe CO5 7AW.
