SHOCK AS SKIPPER QUITS [07/03/08 07:43:17]
ADCC was left reeling today after the shock resignation of 1st X1 skipper Shaun Calladine (pictured right) without even playing a match!
Speaking through an interpreter, Mr Calladine said "I think I've taken ADCC as far as I can. It's been a roller coaster ride and I think it's important to quit while I'm ahead".
Beleagured treasurer John Everett admitted he was "a bit disappointed", but denied the £20 million payoff was excessive. We wanted a world class skipper and for a few days that's exactly what we got".
Calladine was only appointed to the post during the close season following the deportation of Callum Appleyard to convict country and it was hoped that he would continue the excellent progress that the club has enjoyed over the last four years.
However, Head of Security John Stockbridge (68) was the first club official to distance himself from what is an embarrassing debacle. The ageing former newspaper magnate raged, "I told the committee that w***er Calladine was only in it for the money. I suppose the car parking fees at the ground will be going up again".
