EMILY PROVES BEAUTY AND BRAINS CAN CO-EXIST [19/08/07 07:04:59]

Congratulations to Callum Appleyard's girlfriend Emily Crooks who was this week delighted with her A level results and the subsequent offer of a place reading Psychology at Southampton. Emily bagged two As, one B and one C to pick up 480 points on what has to be a ridiculous scoring scale devised after candidates were not scoring well enough under the old system!

No doubts who has the brains in that relationship then although Callum will point to the 4.3 degree he gained in Sports Injuries at the University of Wallamalloo. Emily will not be taking her place on the south coast immediately though; she plans to have a gap year in Australia when Callum returns there in September (see Deportation Countdown on home page). With her surname, she should go down a treat in 'convict country'!

Keiran Savill (right) was similarly pleased with his scores (B, B, C, E) and is considering the next move in the light of his recent sponsorship deal with the European food giants MuckDonalds. In between large mouthfulls of tea yesterday, Keiran explained that he won't be rushed into making a decision as he needs to choose his seat of learning very carefully. No doubt Jane will be forwarding frequent food parcels to replenish the lad's tuck box!
