SKIPPER IN SHOCK ARREST [03/07/07 06:15:59]
The heightened security alert at UK airports has led to skipper Callum Appleyard being detained as he stepped off a plane at Edinburgh airport yesterday evening.
Appleyard, accompanied by girlfirend Emily was wrestled to the floor by police (see right) before being whisked away for questioning under anti-terrorism laws.
The club's Head of Secret Police John Stockbridge declined to make the trip to Scotland to see if he could be of assistance, preferring instead to eat his Chinese at leisure whilst our Antipodean friend languished in jail.
Latest reports indicate that Appleyard has since been released after it was discovered that the 'device' which set off the terror alert was a simple battery powered appliance concealed in Emily's luggage.
Edinburgh Police later announced that they did not really consider Appleyard to be a secruity threat, they just did not like his accent!
