ABBERTON SEEK PLANNING PERMISSION FOR NEW PAVILION [05/06/07 10:42:31]

It is understood that the club have applied for planning permission to convert Everett Mansions (pictured right) into a new pavilion with luxury changing rooms and extensive catering / bar facilities. The property has an elevated scoring room and will also boast a first class outside viewing area once the existing building is demolished.

This generous offer from our Trustee / Treasurer / Assistant Groundsman will enable the boundary to move about twenty yards further south affording the club the opportunity of extending the square to accommodate more strips. Curator John Ward was unavailable for comment today as he was sunning himself in Turkey but it is believed that he will be delighted.

The granting of planning permission is however not a foregone conclusion. Local residents have in the past combined forces to resist development of the ground for residential purposes and plans to change the usage to a house a weekly livestock market were thwarted at an early stage.
